Puppy Confidence & Agility Class
The focus of this 7 wk class is on confidence building through the juvenile developmental fear periods. In this class, we will introduce clicker training – a modern method of dog training that has been used by years by dolphin trainers. Using the clicker, owners will learn to teach puppies fun things like mini agility obstacles while also strengthening basic manners like sit, down, come, and walk on a loose leash. Relationship-building exercises as well as further socialization to sights, sounds, and smells will be covered. Our Puppy Agility & Confidence is similar to other “Senior Puppy” classes, but with more emphasis on confidence building through the fear periods and developing muscle coordination. **FIRST CLASS IS AN ORIENTATION WITHOUT THE PUPPIES. ** Puppies should be at least between the age of 5-12 months. This class is not a pre-requisite for the Canine Good Citizen or Pre-Agility class, but is the perfect class for puppies who have taken their first puppy class, but are not ready for the Canine Good Citizen class yet.
Prerequisites
- Puppies should be at least 6 months. Upper age limit: 12 months
- All puppies must be up to date on the required vaccinations, as per a veterinarian. Proof of vaccinations or titers must be brought to first class. Dogs without proof of vaccinations or titers will not be able to participate. Pre-registration and pre-payment required.
- No shock collars, e-collars, prong collars or choke chains allowed in class.
- Pre-registration with pre-payment is required.
- Please note: These classes sometimes fill up two months ahead of start date. Please send in your application early!
Tuition: $230
Duration: Once a week for 7 weeks; First class is orientation, without dogs
Class Size: 6-8 Puppies Maximum
