Agility Foundation Class

Ready to jump start your next agility dog?  This skills-based class is designed to teach the critical foundation skills needed for agility.  We will focus on reinforcer skills (using toys and/or food), important tricks for training agility behaviors, and introduce handling mechanics and agility obstacles.  Although this class is targeted for young dogs that haven’t started competing yet, it can also be taken by dogs of any experience level, including puppies. The class is geared towards handlers who are serious about competing in agility and want to work on foundation skills. 


Class Goals:

Some of the things we will be focusing on include: Building Toy Drive- Waiting Your Turn- Working Around Distractions- End of Run Routines- Jump (low height) & Tunnel Drills – Targeting for Contact Behaviors – Groundwork for Handling Skills

Pre-Class requirements:

  • Dogs must not have aggression issues with well-mannered dogs.
  • Puppies are eligible to take this class because we will adjust the height / difficulty of the obstacles / exercises so they are age-appropriate.
  • Dogs should be of a healthy weight and without health problems.
  • No shock collars, e-collars, prong collars or choke chains allowed in class.
  • Pre-registration with pre-payment is required.

Tuition: $200
Duration: Once a week for 6 weeks
Class Size: 6 Dogs Maximum
